Living Watchful

1 Thessalonians 4:16-17 (KJV): "For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout... Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord."
This preserved teaching explains the Christian hope often described as the rapture, from the biblical language of being "caught up." The emphasis is not speculation but assurance in the Lord's promise to gather His people to Himself.
Some object to the word rapture because it does not appear in many English Bible translations. Yet the doctrine is drawn directly from Scripture, especially the language of believers being “caught up” to meet the Lord in the air. The Greek word often noted here is harpazo, meaning to snatch up or seize, and from that biblical idea Christians have long used the word rapture to describe this hope. What matters most is not the label itself, but the promise that Jesus Christ will gather His people unto Himself.
Believers may differ on details of end-time sequencing, but we stand united in this: Jesus Christ will return, the dead in Christ will be raised, and His church will be with Him forever.
Watchfulness therefore means steady faith, holy living, and enduring love, not date-setting or alarm. We remain ready by abiding in Christ and walking in His Word daily.
