13. Dispute Resolution & Governing Law (California, USA)

These Terms of Use & Legal Disclaimer shall be governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of the State of California, USA.

13.1 Informal Resolution

In the event of a dispute, we encourage individuals to contact us first to seek a resolution through informal means.

13.2 Mediation & Arbitration

If informal resolution is unsuccessful, disputes shall be resolved through binding arbitration in accordance with the laws of California.

  • Arbitration shall take place in Long Beach, California, and be conducted by a single arbitrator.
  • Each party shall bear their legal costs unless otherwise determined by the arbitrator.
  • Any claim must be filed within one (1) year from the date the dispute arose.

13.3 Opt-Out of Arbitration

If you do not wish to be bound by the arbitration provision in Section 13.2, you may opt-out by sending a written notice within 30 days of first agreeing to these Terms. The notice must include your full name, contact information, and a statement that you wish to opt out of arbitration.

13.4 Exceptions to Arbitration

S4C may seek injunctive or equitable relief in a California state or federal court for intellectual property or misuse of church resources.

Users agree to resolve disputes individually and waive the right to participate in class-action lawsuits.
